“Water of Life” Playlist

In honor of the iTunes gift card sweepstakes we have going for the month of August, I thought it’d be fun to put together a “Water of Life” (Whisky) Playlist! Now as you’re sipping on your Mount Royal Light you’ll have something to listen to! A few songs from this list will be loaded on Facebook and Twitter for you to click-through throughout the month.

I linked all the songs to YouTube videos for your viewing and listening pleasure. Some of the videos are odd but they’re the best I could find for that song. For example, in #17 “Whiskey Do My Talking” by Brooks & Dunn it seems the ladies in the video are having their own whisky experience as the photos progress. Slightly amusing!

The Mount Royal Light iTunes Giveaway (the “Sweepstakes”) is sponsored by General Beverage Sales Company (“Sponsor”). Sweepstakes begins at 12:00AM CT on August 1, 2011 and ends at 11:59PM CT on August 31, 2011 (the “Sweepstakes Period”).

1. ELIGIBILITY: Sweepstakes open to legal residents age 21 and older of the state of Wisconsin. Employees, officers and directors of Sponsor and its parent companies, affiliates subsidiary companies, judging agents and promotion partners and their immediate families (parents, children, siblings, spouse) or members of the same household (whether related or not) of such employees/officers/directors are not eligible to enter. Sweepstakes is governed by the laws of the U.S.A. Sweepstakes is void outside of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia and where taxed, restricted or prohibited by law. 2. HOW TO ENTER: You can enter this Sweepstakes via the Internet. During the Sweepstakes Period, please go to: http://www.facebook.com/MountRoyalLight and “like” the Mount Royal Light Facebook page. Another window will open up where you will be asked to enter your information for entry. To be eligible all entries must be received by 11:59PM CT on August 31, 2011. Only fully completed entry forms are eligible. Proof of submission will not be deemed proof of receipt by Sponsor. All entries become the sole property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Each entry has an equal chance to win. Any dispute regarding submission of online entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an internet access provider, online service provider, or other organizations (e.g. business, educational institute) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. 4. PRIZES: Twenty winners will receive a $15 gift card to iTunes. The Total Approximate Retail Value (ARV) of the prize package is $300. The prizes are not transferable cannot be assigned, substituted or redeemed for cash. Sponsors reserve the right to substitute a similar prize of equal or greater value in the event that any of the stated prizes cannot be awarded due to circumstances beyond the control of the Sponsor. All taxes, if any are the sole responsibility of the winners. Neither the sponsor nor its affiliates or subsidiaries will be responsible for any loss, liability or damage arising out of the winners’ acceptance or use of the prize.

5. SELECTION OF WINNER/ODDS: A total of twenty (20) winners will be selected by random drawing from all eligible entries received on or about August 31, 2011 by an independent judging agency whose decisions are final and binding in all respects. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Approximate odds of winning are 1:5,000. Winner will be notified by submitted email and on the Mount Royal Light Facebook page within 30 days of the drawing and may be required to execute a Statement of Eligibility and Release and Payment Authorization within 30 days of prize notification attempt or Winner will be disqualified and prize may be awarded to an alternate winner selected at random among all remaining eligible entries. Return of prize or prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and an alternate winner may be selected at random among all remaining eligible entries. Entry and/or acceptance of prize constitutes permission for the Sponsor, Prize Provider and its agencies to use the winners’ name, address (city and state) and/or likeness for advertising and trade purposes without further compensation or authorization, worldwide and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media, now known and hereafter devised, unless prohibited by law.

Chew Gum…Burn 97 Calories!

Did you know that chewing gum for 1 hour burns 11 calories? That means you only have to chew gum for about 9 hours to burn off those 97 calories of Mount Royal Light you had last night! That doesn’t seem too tough now does it?!

When I was thinking about how hot it has been outside this week, it got me wondering if sweating actually makes you lose weight. After a bit of research, sadly, I found out you lose the water weight by sweating it out but as soon as you rehydrate you gain it right back. Dang, I was hoping my soaking shirt at the gym meant I lost more than the machines told me! I speak not only for myself, but I think many Wisconsinites as well, when I say that I work out to stay in shape and be healthy, but let’s be real… I want to burn the calories so I have room to drink the calories!

It was 97 degrees today and that reminded me of the 97 calories in a shot of Mount Royal Light. And that got me thinking about how long I’d have to work out or do anything for that matter to burn off 97 calories — before OR after I drink them. So again, I researched!

  1. Chew gum for 9 hours.
  2. Have sex for 52 minutes.
  3. Dance in the club (or your car with a DD in between bars!) for 15 minutes.
  4. Jog at 5 miles/hour for 10 minutes.
  5. Walk around the block for 27 minutes.
  6. Pick up trash in a park or along the beach for 22 minutes.
  7. Bike around the block at a moderate pace for 11 minutes.
  8. Play frisbee for 27 minutes.
  9. Straighten your hair for 37 minutes.
  10. Go bowling for 27 minutes.
  11. Mow the lawn for 18 minutes.
  12. Jump rope for 10 minutes.

Welcome friends! I’m glad you stopped by to check out the brand new Mount Royal Light Blog! My name is Karri, this is Mount Royal Light’s first attempt at blogging and I hope you all enjoy it. The purpose of this fabulous communication method is for us to learn about all things whisky together—as a team! I am an amateur whisky drinker but am intrigued by the one-third fewer calories and one-third less alcohol Mount Royal Light has to offer! I’m excited to explore and want to share all my findings with you.

So what is Mount Royal Light, you ask?
Mount Royal Light Whisky is a Canadian whisky (notice not “whiskey” – future blog post will explain the difference!) with one-third fewer calories and one-third less alcohol than traditional 80-proof spirits. Are you a bartender? Are you a calorie counter? Do you just plain love great whisky? Now, I don’t want to make this sound like an advertisement but if you answered yes to any or all of those questions you will love Mount Royal Light!

I’ve been a bartender at several places and I wish I would have known about Mount Royal Light when customers wanted to buy me a courtesy shot. This drink would have been my best friend. It’s only 97 calories per shot and isn’t as strong as a regular shot. Bartenders, pouring yourself some Mount Royal Light means staying more sober and keeping the extra calories out of your diet. Plus it tastes pretty dern good!

I plan on not only posting things about Mount Royal Light on this blog, but I want to educate you as I discover more interesting tidbits about whisky – how it’s made, how you’re supposed to drink it, different kinds of whisky’s, fun facts! I’ll tell you about White Rock Distilleries, the company that makes Mount Royal Light, about the people who make Mount Royal Light and I’ll tell you about different places that serve it. I want to keep the posts light, fun and fruity (just like Mount Royal Light!)
