My Day at the Zoo by Guest Blogger Hillary B.

I was thrilled to be the winner of the Mount Royal Light’s zoo pass giveaway. Going to the Milwaukee County Zoo – for free! I called my mom and we made a whole day out if it! It was a perfect way to say goodbye to the summer weather.

Going to the zoo brings back many memories for both my mom and me. The zoo always reminds me of prom (yes, my school had prom at the zoo). And according to my mom, the zoo always reminds her of pushing a heavy stroller around in 90-degree heat. Sorry mom!

We passed the Zoo’s signature peacocks meandering through the forests, a flamingo with a cast on its leg, and a cute little duck in the bird exhibit. We even went through the “Dinosaurs Alive” exhibit and saw all the robotic dinosaurs in their pre-historic glory. Tigers are my favorite animals, and luckily, we came to their cage just as they were getting back from feeding time. They were very frisky and lively, searching their cages for any treats the zookeepers left behind. At one point, a tiger came to where I was standing and its head was only a few feet away from me through the glass. When I realized this was probably as close to a tiger as I would ever be in my life, I thought that was an amazing experience.

At the end of the day, I realized some things never change. Twenty years later, I can still have a great day at the zoo with my mom just like when I was five. The penguins will always smell bad, the otters will always make me laugh, and for a few dollars, I can always get a Mold-O-Rama of a crocodile.

Another thing that will never change is my love for Mount Royal Light! Thanks so much for a wonderful day at the zoo!!

August was Crazy for Mount Royal Light!

We had a grand total of SIX Mount Royal Light parties scheduled during August!! Every one of them was a blast! Words cannot describe the fun we had so I’ll let the pictures do the talking…

Unfortunately, I didn’t get pictures from Albanese’s Roadhouse Aug. 12th. If you have any send them to MountRoyalLight@gmail.com! Post your party pics on our Facebook page!

My husband and I started drinking Mount Royal Light a year ago. Mount Royal Light is perfect for an Old Fashion; it is smooth and has less alcohol content. We are big Packer fans and like to have a shot when they score a touchdown. We came up with the perfect shot, Maple infused Mount Royal Light Rye Whisky. Mix 2 parts Mount Royal Light Rye Whisky with 1 part pure Maple Syrup; you have to use the best pure Maple Syrup you can buy. We mix a batch up about 3 months prior to football season, store it in the refrigerator, shake it up once a week and by first game it is ready!

I am attaching a few photos, one of me enjoying a Mount Royal Light Old Fashion at the 21 Gun Saloon in Denmark, WI and a few pictures of our family’s After Bender Golf outing, named so because it is the day after Johnsonville’s Pretzel Bender festival. For the past 10 years we have had a family golf outing on the first Tuesday after the 4th of July. This year we had a total of 28 people, 18 golfers and 10 that came to join us for lunch. We all enjoyed using and showing off our cool Mount Royal Light golf towels!

July Drink of the Month: Whisky Lemonade

WHISKY LEMONADE - July

WHISKY LEMONADE – July 2012

Have you tried this one yet? Cool off with this easy-to-mix drink in this HOT July weather! This drink recipe was submitted by Riley M. in the recipe contest a few months ago. You only need 3 ingredients… Super easy and super delicious!

“Start with a shot (or two if you’re feeling lucky) of Mount Royal Light, then add your favorite light lemonade. My favorite is Minute Maid Light in the can. This way it is really portable. I finish off the drink with a squeeze of lemon and a lemon wedge for the edge of the glass. Add ice if you would like! This makes for a great summer drink and won’t make you feel super full like how you can feel when you are drinking beer. This also makes for a great pool-side drink!” -Riley M.

June Drink of the Month: Light Royal Cranberry

LIGHT ROYAL CRANBERRY - June

LIGHT ROYAL CRANBERRY – June 2012

One of the winners of our Recipe Contest was Riley’s submission of Light Royal Cranberry. She pours 1-2 shots of Mount Royal Light over ice and adds cranberry juice to it. Her favorite brand of cranberry juice to use is Ocean Spray because it’s lighter on the calories but still has the same great taste. Riley says that this drink is delicious all times of the year but she particularly likes to drink it while laying by the pool in the summer. Enjoy! Maybe post of pictures of you and your friends drinking a Light Royal Cranberry by your pool on our Facebook page!
